Is it possible to apply to kindergarten before the age of three?
We usually accept children three years of age or older, but depending on the behavior of the child in the community or if they have already been to a similar institution, we will also admit a younger child. After the child has spent a few trial days at our institution, each case will be judged separately. We only accept children who are potty trained.
My child has never been to a similar institution before. How does kindergarten habituation work?
Children often cry when they first leave their mother, but this is a natural part of the process. This is a big step not only for the child but also for his/her parents. However, the tears disappear quickly after the parents leave, but this only happens if the parents actually leave. If they stay in the school grounds, walk in front of the school or on the playground, the child may accidentally see them and the process of separation will be much longer and more difficult for them. It is also very important that they do not leave when the child is just busy with doing something else, it is important to actually say goodbye to the child and make sure we come for him/her soon. Kindergarten teachers are understanding and flexible with children and their parents, there are no strict rules as every child is different. The most important thing for us is to ensure effective education and great cooperation with parents.
How many kindergarten teachers are there for the children?
At Orchidea Kindergarten, the number of children in a group depends on the size of the group room. There are at least two kindergarten teachers in each group, one speaking Hungarian and one speaking English.
How do I know my child is learning and developing in kindergarten?
Every child has a folder in which we put their worksheets and drawings. These are held throughout the year and parents can view them at any time, observing their child’s development. These folders can also be taken home by children at the end of the school year, as a reminder of their achievements and in remembrance of the year. We are very happy when the parents work with us and talk to their children at home about what they learned in kindergarten. Our goal is to provide individual development for each child so that they can move on to the next group and later to school without any problem.
Can I apply to Orchidea Kindergarten only at the beginning of the school year?
No. Children can start kindergarten at any time, immediately after a positive assessment of the admission process, as long as we have free space.
