Language preparatory class (9 PREP/KNY)
The aim of the English language preparatory school year is to prepare our students for communication in English (18 hours per week), for the special vocabulary of the subjects. During this year (in small classes), in addition to intensive English, there are classes in Hungarian language and communication, mathematics and IT lessons. We provide students a chance to acquire an intermediate knowledge of English by the end of the school year, which will be the foundation for bilingual education. At the end of the school year, a complex final exam is taken in an English language subject. A successful exam is a prerequisite for progress. Our goal is to enable students to continue their high school studies in the bilingual educational program.
Bilingual classes (9-12)
The basic requirement for starting the 9th grade is to pass a B1 level language exam at an accredited language exam center or a complex final exam successfully passed in the language preparation year.
The aim of our bilingual education is to achieve “multilingualism”, i.e. knowledge of at least one foreign language close to the native level. In bilingual education, the path to achieving the goal is to learn the subjects in the target language. The natural use of bilingualism, the native and the target language broadens the horizons of our students, and this dual attachment helps them to overcome their prejudices and discover their own values. In our secondary school grades, education is provided in the target language, and language proficiency must reach the advanced level by the end of the section. This will enable our students to take exams in the target language from the compulsory and chosen matriculation subjects and to continue their studies abroad. The level of language use is now the same as level C1 of the European Council Recommendation.
There are two stages in the 4-year bilingual educational program (9-12).
1) In the first two years (9-10), our students can acquire up-to-date basic literacy, and they can study all subjects in the target language in divided groups as needed.
Our goal is for our students to complete the time-proportionate part of the curriculum requirements and the requirements of the graduation exam in the subjects of Hungarian language and literature, history, mathematics, foreign language, biology, and physics. Acquisition of knowledge according to the curriculum requirements will be completed in the subjects chemistry, geography, digital culture, music, and visual culture. In this section, we provide the necessary information about the subjects to be chosen. We support the possibility of taking an advanced graduation exam in digital culture and foreign language subjects. In the case of the 10th grade, the prerequisite for entering the higher grade is the existing minimum B2 complex English language exam from an accredited language exam center.
2) Grades 11 and 12 are the special preparatory phase, the primary aim of this section is to prepare for intermediate and advanced level graduation, and to prepare for higher education studies. It is possible for our students to differentiate according to interest and career choice. In these two years, the increased number of hours of elective courses ensures the gaining of individualized knowledge and development. During this period, the group organization and the training venues are the special spaces of learning organization in the specialized classrooms. Our goal is that by the end of high school, all our students will have an advanced level graduation certificate from at least the target language, for which the high number of hours and the organization of small group learning ensure the conditions for preparation.
