Orchidea Hungarian-English Bilingual School (OHEBS) English Language Department (ELD) is a part of the OHEBS wider learning community. It plays a vital role in equipping students with the level of English proficiency necessary for them to fully participate in, and benefit from, their secondary school studies and follow mainstream subjects whose language of instruction is English.
OHEBS ELD is dedicated to achieving excellence in the quality of the English language instruction delivered to our students.
All faculty members are dedicated and active participants in the ELD team, and demonstrate wholehearted commitment towards the achievement of our mission. ELD courses, materials, assessment, systems, and procedures are constantly being reviewed, modified, and improved, with our students and their educational needs as the main priority.
The English language proficiency achieved by OHEBS students will undoubtedly help prepare them for their lives and careers following graduation from secondary school.

The Mission of the OHEBS English language Department is to provide excellent English language programs in teaching, learning, academic studies, and community service.
Preparatory Year English Language Program
The mission of the Preparatory Year English Language Program of the English Language Department at Orchidea Hungarian-English Bilingual School is to provide quality intensive instruction of English as a foreign language. This is delivered by qualified instructors using a comprehensive communicative curriculum, to the Secondary School Preparatory Year students in order to enhance their English language skills and facilitate their secondary school entry.
OHEBS ELD Goals
OHEBS ELD strives to achieve its mission through the following objectives:
- Alignment of the School’s administrative and academic processes with local and international secondary education standards.
- Curriculum development for all academic programs based on learning outcomes.
- Enhancing students English language skills through effective use of English language teaching program and helping students achieve the following English language levels:
- B1/B1+ by the end of English preparatory class
- B2/B2+ by the end of Grade 10
- C1/C1+ by the end of Grade 11
- Creating a well-rounded learning environment through extracurricular activities that are enjoyable and attractive to students.
- Enhancing educational and academic partnerships with distinguished international and national organizations.
